Although she didn’t win the overall prize, there was no disappointment in the words of Marisol, the 18-year-old dancer who came second behind singer Sarah in ‘Amici’. Marisol received the category prize and the critics prize. “I felt like I won just by reaching the final. I’m happy for Sarah who deserves the prize,” comments Marisol, who tells Adnkronos about the his participation in the Canale 5 TV show. One of the most memorable moments for the dancer was when she received the first scholarship from Alvin Aley: “there, I understood that I could make dance my profession and continue to study in my dream academy,” she said enthusiastically.
Marisol’s journey through the program was not without its challenges, notably due to a knee problem which began to manifest itself between the end of December and the beginning of January. Despite the difficulties, his tenacity allowed him to overcome the obstacles. “It was a little more difficult. But the efforts I made paid off and I didn’t expect to last this long: I’m very proud of what I managed to do.” Versatility has been one of the keys to Marisol’s success, as she has shined in several styles. “I started with modern, where I feel more comfortable and stand out more for my qualities, elasticity, legs, back. However, I like to try all the styles because since I was little , I started studying everything. I think a dancer should always wander and I am happy that I studied this way, it helped me in everything,” she explains.
From September to today Marisol feels like she has grown up a lot: “If I saw a video from September, I think I would be surprised: I feel a different consciousness about my body. I know that I have changed, I really feel like a different person. For us dancers, it is a phenomenal experience, an intensive course where we study all days in the classroom with top professionals. I think there are no other experiences like this in Italy.” Finally, Marisol shared some advice for young dancers who aspire to participate in shows like “Amici”: “Always be yourself and never give up. And above all: enjoy every minute in the room because it’s not often that you spend hours with professionals of this caliber.”
