Life has resumed on Fort Boyard, between the island of Aix and the island of Oléron. Empty during the winter, the old structure built in the 19the century has been full since the beginning of spring, with the arrival of the technical teams preparing the filming of the 35e season of the famous France 2 show. At the beginning of May, the first candidates arrived to record the shows broadcast this summer.
Activity is not about to diminish on the Historic Monument since major work will begin this summer – for a bill estimated at 44 million euros – in order to save it from the assaults of time. Consequential and necessarily noisy, they should not however interfere with recordings for the coming seasons, in 2025, 2026 and 2027 – the end of the project is scheduled for the winter of 2027-2028. We already know that filming will continue during this period, as the Department clarified in mid-April during the presentation of the “Save Fort Boyard” operation. “Filming is the priority for everyone,” confirms Antoine Weber, executive producer of the television show.
“In good understanding”
In essence, this means that it is the work that will have to adapt to the shooting periods, and not the other way around. On this issue, Adventure Line Productions and the Department work “in good harmony”, assures Antoine Weber. The weeks dedicated to filming should thus be spared from the work, even if the door is not closed for workers and cameras to coexist. “If the work progresses during filming, it will be in a way that does not interfere with it. »
The Department and production are also in discussions concerning the maintenance of the sets – removed or covered outside of filming periods – when the fort will be accessible to the public, from 2028. “We know that it would be a real plus for visits,” recognizes Antoine Weber.
