Barcelona airport is served from Algiers by a direct line operated by Air Algérie, thus allowing several Algerian travelers to easily travel to Spain.
If some are installed there or go there for tourism others go there for business and carry a lot of luggage with them, especially on their return, which sometimes leads them to pay extra at the Spanish airport.
This is what an Internet user explains in a video that he published on his TikTok channel dedicated to travel to and from Spain and France.
But if this fact is already known by travelers used to passing through this airport, the Internet user will also announce a change which will not suit everyone concerning the method of payment for excess baggage.
Excess baggage at Barcelona airport: penalty for cash payments
“ We all know that people going to Spain, particularly via Barcelona airport, have to checkout if they have extra baggage, but what many don’t know, however, is that from now on, we can no longer pay in cash, but only by card », reveals this Internet user.
He explains that there used to be a special counter for cash payments where travelers who did not have bank payment cards could pay for their excess baggage, specifying that from now on, “ this window has been removed “.
This change means that travelers with excess baggage and without a bank card must pay, in addition to the price of their additional baggage, a penalty for paying in cash.
“ If you have to pay €20 for excess baggage and you don’t have a bank card, you also have to pay €50 more to be able to pay in cash, so in total, you will pay €70 for a bag of €20 », Explains the Internet user.
So he calls on travelers departing from and going to Barcelona airport to check the weight of their suitcases or to bring a valid bank card, if they do not want to pay €50 more.
He also salutes the solidarity of Algerian travelers, some of whom lent their bank cards to others at the airport to avoid paying the penalty.
