Red-listed owl hit by car rescued in Kursk region

“This owl is listed in the Red Book of Russia and other countries,” said photographer Alexei Sivakov, who captured the bird in the first moments after the miraculous rescue. – In recent years, their numbers have begun to increase.The photographer shared the story of the tawny owl’s rescue on his VK page.

“This beauty was hit by a car in the Shchigrovsky district on one of the roads,” he explained.

It is not known what would have happened to the bird if not for the kind heart of local resident Maria Shchigrova. She picked up the owl and brought it to one of the veterinary clinics in Kursk.

Veterinarian Victoria Bykanova immediately understood what needed to be done. The treatment lasted 2 weeks. When the bird was completely healthy, Victoria decided to contact Alexey so that the photographer would return the bird to its natural environment and release it into the wild.

“Of course, I gladly agreed,” Alexey shared. – We found a suitable place for the owl to live, and then … well, we organized this solemn ceremony! Naturally, I could not deny myself the professional pleasure and finally organized a short photo session with the owl. In short, because it almost immediately flew into the forest!
